Disaster Response for Immigrant Communities
This 90-minute training, facilitated by Cindy Garcia, Program Director of CPLC De Colores, focuses on strengthening community resilience during disaster events. We will explore how diverse community members, including those with varying immigration backgrounds and survivors of domestic violence, experience and navigate these crises. The session will specifically address compounded vulnerabilities, such as the risk of family separation due to immigration enforcement during emergencies, and how this directly impacts a survivor’s ability to seek safety and support. Participants will learn practical, inclusive approaches to enhance preparedness, response, and recovery efforts, ensuring all individuals have access to the resources they need to remain safe and rebuild their lives. This training will have simultaneous Spanish interpretation.
