SUMMARY:The Sharing Experience
DESCRIPTION:About The Sharing Experience: \nThis is a 5-day\, 40-hour\, interactive basic domestic violence training. This training will include topics such as safety planning\, legal issues\, dynamics of power and control\, advocacy\, empowerment\, advocacy skills\, and self-care. This training is designed for professionals working with people and communities impacted by domestic violence\, including staff and advocates of domestic violence shelters\, social workers\, health care providers\, faith-based leaders\, sexual assault nurse examiners\, child welfare providers\, law enforcement\, attorneys\, officers of the court\, offender treatment providers\, and others who interact with survivors. This training’s content and discussion will necessarily involve systems of power\, historically marginalized communities\, and interpersonal and structural violence. Much of it will be emotionally and intellectually challenging to engage with. We will do our best to create a training environment that fosters engagement\, bravery\, empathy\, and thoughtful consideration of complex content. SUMMARY:Sexual Violence Core Advocacy Training (SVCAT)
DESCRIPTION:ACESDV’s Sexual Violence Core Advocacy Training is a five-day\, 40-hour comprehensive sexual violence advocacy training. This core training examines the dynamics and sociocultural context of sexual violence\, healthy sexuality\, and the facets of sexual assault response statewide. Participants will learn the foundations of sexual assault advocacy\, including tone\, rapport building\, and crisis intervention\, as well as mandatory reporting and privileged communication. This training also covers advanced advocacy strategies rooted in the neurobiology of trauma and considering the complex needs and intersectional identities of survivors. \nThe training will be conducted virtually via Zoom. Participants are expected to join with functional microphones and cameras\, as active engagement in group discussions and breakout sessions will be an essential component of SVCAT. Attendees will be expected to attend all training hours unless otherwise discussed. \nThis upcoming SVCAT will take place VIRTUALY from Monday\, November 16th – November 20th\, 2026 \nSchedule below: \nMonday 11/16 – 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM \nTuesday 11/17 – 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM \nWednesday 11/18 – 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM \nThursday 11/19 – 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM \nFriday 11/20 – 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM \nThe content and discussion in this training will necessarily confront the many facets of sexual violence. This content may be emotionally and intellectually challenging and may be uncomfortable to work through. Attendees are encouraged to take charge of their health and learning. \nCancellations must be made at least one week prior to the training. If for any reason you are not able to attend\, another person may attend in your place.
